Rose Cherussery (she/her) is a two-time EdTerp and doctoral student in the Language, Literacy, and Social Inquiry program. Rose also serves in the department of Teaching & Learning, Policy & Leadership as an Instructor and Graduate Research Assistant. Prior to her time at the University of °ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø, College Park, Rose was an elementary and secondary school teacher who spent a decade teaching children in both the public and private school contexts. Shortly after earning her master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in English Literacy Education and Teacher Leadership from the University of °ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø in 2020, Rose returned to the College of Education to work with undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in teacher preparation programs as a lecturer and member of adjunct faculty. Rose considers herself a lifelong learner and teacher committed to equity and justice, and she is focused on advancing education through changemaking research, policy, and practice. Now, while pursuing a Ph.D. in literacy education, Rose continues to find joy in her role as a reading methods instructor where she creates educational environments that center social justice, promote critical consciousness, and are conducive to culturally responsive and sustaining teaching and learning. Her work with preservice teachers has been a driving force in her educational journey and she finds hope and inspiration in the knowledge, skills, and experiences that the next generation of teachers brings to the field of education. Rose is honored to be part of a thriving academic community of fearless Ed Terps and she looks forward to making a lasting contribution to literacy research as a developing scholar and leader in education.
